Mercedes Benz-- manufacturer of ML series and producer of quality ML parts like Mercedes ML320 parts-- is one of the favorites of the tuning giant Brabus. Just recently the company engaged in a venture that involves the Mercedes ML 63. This special project has made its debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show.
The Brabus Widestar does not only present a new and exciting wide track version of the SUV but also presented the new Monoblock E 23-inch forged wheels and Brabus B63 S performance tuning for the ML 63 with 550 hp/404.8 kW.
The Widestar concept which is available for all current M-Class models combines dynamic looks and maximum functionality. The graceful flowing lines of the fender flares front and back increases the vehicle’s width by approximately 4 centimeters. The extra centimeters enhance the car’s looks while the wide track improves handling. The multi piece Brabus Monoblock E wheels with size 11 Jx23 were custom fitted for the wide track version of the M-Class. Their forge wheel center ensures an optimal combination of light weight design and maximum strength. The new light alloy wheels are mounted with high performance tires that measure 315/25 R 23.
Brabus has also equipped its Windestar Concept with a control module for the standard Airmatic air suspension that lowers the vehicle’s height by approximately 30 millimeters which further enhance its sporty road handling characteristics......
The Brabus Widestar body conversion kit is consists of add-on parts for the doors, and rocker panels that results to a more homogenous transition between the fender flares. There are also a complete front and rear fascias replacements for the production counterparts’ front and back. The front spoiler bumper with its three striking air inlets and four integrated auxiliary headlights lends the M-Class more power while minimizing lift on the front axle.
In addition, the combination of the rear spoiler, the rear fascia with integrated diffuser, and four chrome tailpipes of the Brabus stainless-steel sport exhaust system create a remarkable aerodynamic balance. And this very same aerodynamic property of the Brabus Widestar makes it the perfect platform for a tuned version of the ML 63.
The tuned ML 63 was developed by the Brabus motor engineers in the form of a B63 S performance kit. The production V8 engine produces 510 hp/375 kW and fitted with sport air filters together with high-performance metal catalysts and newly programmed engine electronics with custom mapping for ignition and injection. The combination of all these components gives off an increase in power output by 40 hp/31 kW to 550 hp/404.8 kW. The peak torque also increases from 630 Nm to 650 Nm.
Other benefits derived from the Widestar concept includes the ability to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a matter of 4.9 seconds. Similarly the engine tuning as well as the installation of the Brabus V/max unit increases top speed from 250 km/h to 275 km/h.
Safety features were made even better by the Brabus Widestar concept like for instance using high-performance brake system which features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers with vented and cross-drilled 380 x 36 millimeter discs on the front axle. Plus add to it the 355x28mm brake discs and 6 piston calipers in the rear enables this Widestar brake system to deliver an impressive stopping power that is comparable to purebred sports cars.
Interior designing is another specialty of the Brabus and for the M-Class they have created an exclusive interior options consisting of stainless steel door sills with illuminated Brabus logo, an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel and a leather covered door trim pieces to upgrade the factory leather. The Brabus exclusive leather interiors were made from carefully crafted combinations of the finest Mastik leather and Alcantara.
The production front seats were also equipped with special rear consoles that reach all the way to the headrests in which a seven-inch 16:9 LCD screens with integrated DVD player. There is also an electric folding table made from precious wood added to complete the interior.

A stereo system is as important in a car as suspension, seat or steering. Cars vary from model to model, and so does music equipment.
The market is highly saturated with both global and local manufacturers. This is making the job all the more difficult for the customer. It is making it difficult for them to choose the perfectly suitable one, when there are so many varieties in size, shape, system and sound available at their fingertips.
Differentiation is done primarily on the basis of cost and quality. Generally, car stereo systems consist of a head unit, main speakers, optional amplifiers and sub woofers to get superior sound output and the wiring that connects all these items.
The head unit in this case is the heart of the whole system. The cassette/fm/cd/dvd/mp3 player that is inserted in the dashboard is the only place from where the entire system is operated.
Two main speakers are put in the front portion of the car and two at the back, by removing the speaker panel of the dashboard. Each main speaker is often further divided into two built parts, one speaker for the highs and the other for the bass......
The entire speaker set is also termed as channel. Usually, a new head unit installation accompanies new speakers insertion as well.
Amplifiers are added to provide some extra strength to the speakers. The further addition of sub woofers or upgrading of cables may also assist in this purpose as well.
The most common use of an amplifier, however, is to empower the sub woofers even more. Sub woofers basically provide deep bass that the small main speakers perhaps cannot achieve.
All sub woofers are actually connected to the amplifier that in turn can easily be mounted right into the sub woofer box. The whole stereo system is then connected to the car battery to start its function.
It is always better to obtain a guide regarding removing dash, door panels and floor pattern of the car before actually installing the music system.
It is also wise to read before hand the installation instruction or guide that generally comes with any new car stereo equipment, especially the one intended for the head unit.
Additional insights can also be gained from these regarding the exact way to install the car stereo system. An antenna is usually connected with the head unit.
After the completion of the entire set up process, radio stations (provided it has FM) can be searched and set specific frequencies to separate buttons, sound can be adjusted (front-rear balance, treble, bass, etc.) and time can also be corrected.
One basic thumb rule regarding the safety precautions is that one should never work on the electrical system of the car with the ground wire attached to the battery Doing this can cause sever damage.
Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Panasonic, Pioneer, Alpine and Clarion are some of the main brands available on the market. It depends entirely upon the customer which one he/she will buy. If someone is brand conscious, can afford higher price and has aspiration for the highest quality audio experience, then Sony Xplod Series can be the best bet.
Sony symbolizes style, status and standard of the highest degree. The others are a bit more pocket friendly. You will have to prioritize your needs and wants, then examine all the details of each model carefully. Also you should consider your budget as well as the car audio space before making a final decision.
One can always consult with other buyers who are still using a product of a particular company or have used sometime or the other and be assured of things like overall performance, service or value for money.
Here are some other post installation guidelines or tips: Always switch off the system when the car is at rest. Switching off is also probably good before starting the engine to reduce the pressure on battery, minimum use of pirated cassettes/discs, keeping the head clean, etc.
Keeping all these details in mind, a customer can shop for the music equipment of his/her choice and enjoy the experience.

10 Widely Sold Car Stereo Brands
Anyone looking to purchase a new car will have to consider several aspects that will fit his needs in the long run. Resources that can provide that specific information are as varied and diversified as the pages on the internet. Multiple sites supply quotes and reviews but one of the most trustworthy is Consumer Report, a widely recognized magazine that published reviews and compares products and services. The car issue is a dominant decision factor when browsing for a reliable car, being consulted by approximately 30 to 40 percent of North American car buyers.
Over the years customers have become accustomed to the favorable reviews concerning Asian cars. The aspect considered here is that of reliability - which refers to the car's performance in time, over the span of several years, its ability to incorporate safety, consistent performance, fuel consumption economy and luxury at a good price. Especially Japanese automakers bring, year after year, the highest evaluation results with cars like Toyota, Honda and Hyundai. Out of 33 models, 23 were from Japanese makers in the list comprised by Consumer Reports, published in the early March issue of 2008. But there is also good news for American models like Ford that have shown remarkable improvements in the last years, in a desire to diminish the considerable Asian domination on the market......
In 2004 the best selling car in the United States was Honda Accord, rated as the best family sedan. Asian cars have almost become synonymous with reliability, with 12 problems encountered per 100 vehicles, while the American automakers had 18 followed by Europeans with 20. Toyota and Honda almost made up the whole top 10 pick category while on the most satisfying list 21 out of 33 were Japanese manufacturers.
In the last two years Ford has managed to enhance predicted reliability although it is still far behind Asian automakers. The Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans have scored a little bit higher than the Honda Accord V6 and Toyota Camry V6 but the Japanese car makers have counteracted with the 2006 model of Hyundai Azera. For a clearer view of the Asian success on the reliability scale it should be known that 39 out of 47 are Japanese vehicles. Situated at the opposite end of the rating are the German cars Mercedes-Benz - CLS, E-Class Sedan, SL, CLK, SLK (V6), M-Class, R-Class and the 2006 S-Class.
In 2008 Subaru also made the list of most reliable cars in The United States.
Again Hyundai topped consumer Report's list with the Elantra SE for the best small sedan and the Santa Fe for midsized sport utility. Toyota was also a winner with Sienna, Prius and RAV4 for most reliable small SUVs but reports are showing that the manufacturer is scoring below average with the V6Camry and Tundra V8 pickup. Because of that, Consumer Report will no longer recommend them just because of the impressive history Toyota had in reliability. Most of the complaints are related to the breaks, automatic transmission and unpleasant noises. Still, the magazine suggests the Camry Hybrid is a good choice. Honda Accord has been given the top spot with better electronics, engine or switchgear, followed by Lexus.

Fuel Saving Scams - More Deceptive Tactics by Sellers of Fuel Saving Devices
Posted by Unknown at 11:01 PM Labels: CBT Tip Apr 28, 2008
For those of you looking for a quick fix to your fuel economy problem in light of the continuously rising gas prices, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has some advice: be wary of any gas-saving claims for automotive devices or oil and gas additives. More than 100 gas-saving products have been tested and none of them do what their deceptive advertising claims.
There are a number of deceptive advertising claims that are used by manufacturers and suppliers of these so called gas saving devices. Here are a few to look out for. One product that was advertised heavily was "Fuel Saver Pro," a device that claims to be "EPA-approved."
The ads read "High gasoline prices at the pump shouldn't scare you. They won't anymore with this new EPA-approved device." They claimed that for $89.95, plus $6.95 shipping and handling, you would realize a 27 percent increase in mileage......
The fact is the Fuel Saver Pro hasn't been tested by the EPA and isn't EPA-approved. An EPA official has stated: "We've tested more than 100 fuel-saving devices over the last 25 years, most of them magnetic devices that wrapped around fuel lines - as if fuel is magnetic - and we haven't certified any of them because we haven't found one that works. Two devices were marginally beneficial, but were so expensive there wouldn't be any pay back."
He went on to say: The manufacturer manipulated the results, to arrive at a base mileage. It compared results from a short stop-and-go cycle, when more fuel is used, with a 25-minute highway cycle, when less fuel is used. Many sellers of gas saving devices use a similar deceptive strategy. They claim: "This gas-saving device is approved by the Federal government."
No government agency endorses gas-saving products for cars. The most that can be claimed in advertising is that the EPA has reached certain conclusions about possible gas savings by testing the product or by evaluating the manufacturer's own test data. If the seller claims that its product has been evaluated by the EPA, ask for a copy of the EPA report, or check the EPA website epa.gov for information. In most instances, false claims of EPA testing or approval have been made.
These are just two of the many deceptive advertising methods used by unscrupulous gas saving device sellers trying to separate a fool and his money. Don't play into their hands. The bottom line is, gas saving devices don't work!

Fuel Saving Scams - More Deceptive Tactics by Sellers of Fuel Saving Devices
The Peugeot 206 was created in the early 1990's with the replacement of the preceding 205 model. Peugeot changed their model under the idea that super mini cars were no longer profitable, therefore a change was in order. The Peugeot 206 did not immediately follow the 205 as the Peugeot 106, 306 and 309 models to capture different levels of sales from prospective customers. The Peugeot 106 was rivaling the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo with the 306 and 309 models taking the mid and top end sales from the discontinuation of the 205. Because of this, many Peugeot enthusiasts believe the 206 should have been named the 207. The 206, although created early was not released until 1998.
The Peugeot moniker indicates that the 206 immediately followed the 205, but this is not true as other models were released before the 206. The eventual successor, the 207, was finally launched n 2006, but Peugeot recently announced that the 206 will stay in production until the year 2010. The 206 is the best selling Peugeot of all time but the end of the model in the upcoming years will end the '06' generation of Peugeot cars in almost 20 years. The 206 was initially produced in France and England but production switched to Slovakia. The closure of the British plant matched with the closure of the Ryton plant, which Peugeot took over when Peugeot bought Chrysler's European division in 1979......
The Peugeot 306 replaced the 309. The 306 is very similar to the Citroen ZX, which was released to the public two years before the 306 model. Both cars used the same structure and floorplan. The 205 was styled after the Pininfarina styling and has been a better seller. In the 1974 oil crisis, Citroen went bankrupt and Peugeot took over Citroen. This led to the similarities and identical cars produced by both manufacturers.
The 306 Phase 1 came to the market in March of 1993 as a 3 and 5 door hatchback with three different models being offered. The five door was more of a station wagon and was dubbed the "sw" for station wagon. Although not nearly as stylish as the 205, the 306 offered many practical uses in the vehicle. The sw estate model was not a hatchback station wagon, but a sedan with luxurious European styling to accompany the Peugeot racing spirit.
The engines used in the Peugeot cars were offered both in a gasoline and a diesel model. The gasoline engines were four cylinder units, which gained their outstanding reputation from being the power plant in the ever popular Peugeot 205 model. The idea for the Peugeot engines was to have a fair trade off between performance and excellent fuel economy. Three larger capacity engines were available but were restricted to automatic and performance models.
The diesel engines in Peugeot came with an excellent reputation and were largely available in turbo charged models. The original engine displacement for the diesel engines came in a 1.8 liter, but was soon upgraded to a 1.9 liter. The turbocharged Peugeot diesel became an excellent fitting engine to match the 306 as the performance matched similarly sized gasoline cars. The considerable extra weight was overcome by the turbocharged performance.

An Overview of the Peugeot Models
Get more information regarding used motorcycles for sale.
The infamous James Dean in the long-gone wildcard of a movie – Rebel without a Cause – could well be attributed with making the riding of a motorcycle a statement instead of a mere form of efficient transportation for the masses. Nothing comes closer to these two-wheelers when questions of fuel efficiency are coupled with the need to cover distances at speed comes into play. An automobile would be a more comfortable mode of traveling, and you are cocooned from the rigors of the ever changing weather patterns, but nothing says carefree cruising at maybe half the cost than a motorcycle.
For Americans, Harley Davidson motorcycles are the one and only brand for any serious two-wheel enthusiasts who’s thinking of getting one for, say a cross state sojourn. No other brands comes close to the image of a grand cruising machine that the motorcycles from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin, manufacturer. Japanese motorcycles might just be cheaper, and sips gas instead of drinking them by the glasses, but they are looked at as mere imitation when compared to the real item; Harley Davidson......
Designed with the specific need for cruising the highways and covering great distances, the century old motorcycle manufacturer Harley Davidson Motor Company focuses mainly on the heavyweight class with engine capacities of 750 cc and above. When you talk about Harleys – as these motorcycles are fondly called – there is evidence a fierce and somewhat fanatical brand loyalty for the brand. Nothing else comes close for its millions of fans.
The main draw for Harleys are not just for its superb cruising abilities, but also the high level of personalization which its manufacturer adopt in making the two wheel machines. There is almost a well accepted tradition among Harley Davidson fans that you are supposed to customize the machine so that it becomes uniquely yours and no one else’s. Their designs are mostly retrogressive in outlook, but at the same time, these will stand the test of time and do not aged as easily as the more modern, futuristic designs, especially from Japanese manufacturers.
Even if you were to purchase your Harley after scouring the used motorcycles for sale column in either the local newspapers or through the internet, you would still be able to customize it to the point that it would be able to hide its age from your motorcycle gang. What’s important however is the exhaust note emitted from the single, dual or even quadruple pipes from it huge engine. Without a doubt, the deep burble of a Harley is a clear signal to its rip roaring capabilities available for their riders to tap into.
It’s all American bruiser-cruiser, retro-styling, but Harley Davidson has managed to keep its mechanical facet of the motorcycle up to date when compared to its competitors. There is nothing retro of the engine, exhaust, brakes, suspension and electronics as they are continually updated and improved. What its manufacturer makes sure of, however, is that it retain the highly lovable image of the yesterday with every model upgrade that it comes out with. Unlike, say BMW motorcycles – one of Harley Davidson’s many competitors – Harleys exists not to further its technological advantage but to spur its all-American image instead.
There are many models to choose from when it comes to buying a Harley Davidson motorcycle. A firm favorite is the "Fat Boy" which Harley Davidson introduced way back in the 1990s; there is the Sportster range which comes with engines of 1,000 cc and above, the Dyna models, which comes with big-twin engine but small-diameter telescopic forks, which differentiates it from its older brother as well as the Revolution models, which are mostly street-going versions of Harleys.
Speak the name Harley Davidson, and invariably the image of mean machines with leather pouches, long telescopic forks, huge exhausts and whole gangs of motorcyclists on a continent-crossing journey would probably come to mind for many, and true enough, they would not be far from the truth. For a manufacturer which has seen two devastating world war and stiff competition from competitors that produces far modern-looking machines every second quarter or so, Harley Davidson is a firm favorite among the enthusiasts and not looking at throwing away its title anytime soon.

Harley Davidson Enthusiasts
Some people build custom bikes because they are cheaper than buying one. Others just want the I-built-that feeling as they look at it. Still others might want customization that they can't get in an "off the shelf" model.
When someone decides to build a motorcycle, there are three paths to take depending on budget, mechanical skill, design aims, and past building experience. Those paths are custom bike kits, a rolling chassis, and building the whole thing from a collection of motorcycle parts.
Custom Bike Kits
The simplest choice for someone who has never built a bike before is to try one of the many custom bike kits out there. You get a box that has everything you need to build the bike from the ground up except the paint......
Kits are great for first-time builders. If you can follow instructions, you end up with a bike put together with your own hands. You don't have to worry about picking the wrong parts or whether two pieces will work together. You will make mistakes along the way, but they will tend to be safe mistakes that won't ruin the build.
The biggest downside is the cost. This is perhaps the most expensive way to build a custom bike. You are also limited as to how much customization you can do. Sure you can swap out the included parts with others of your choice, but that means throwing away pieces you've already paid for.
Rolling Chassis
A rolling chassis is a partially assembled bike that you can customize. It includes the frame, handlebars, wheels, gas tank, and other basic parts. You need to add an engine and a transmission then finish it off with custom pieces.
This is a good middle-of-the-road choice. A rolling chassis is cheaper than one of the kit bikes while keeping the advantage of pre-selected parts that work together. Since all you have is the underlying framework, you still have lots of customization options.
Building a bike from a rolling chassis requires more skill on your part, since you are going to have to choose the other parts yourself.
A variation on the rolling chassis is to take an existing bike, cut it down to the frame, thus producing your own chassis. A used bike will probably cost less than a rolling chassis and you will be removing the parts that have seen the most wear and tear such as the engine.
Building from Scratch
The ultimate in a custom bike is one that you select all the motorcycle parts yourself. The bike becomes a true expression of your personality because every nut and bolt was hand selected. Needless to say this build is beyond most first-timers and even most second-timers.
You can either go cheap, cannibalizing parts from junk bikes, or expensive, buying high end custom chopper parts. This is truly a blank canvas and the ultimate challenge for the bike builder.

3 Ways to Build a Motorcycle
If you are going to build a motorcycle, the frame determines the basic look of the bike. Of course motorcycle frames affect not only the appearance of the bike but the handling and safety of the finished machine.
Frames are the basic skeleton to which other components are attached. They hold the motorcycle tanks and engine and provide support to the whole bike. Most frames are made of steel or aluminum but there are also other choices such as carbon-fibre.
Motorcycle frames generally fall into one of several categories.
Single Cradle: This is the simplest of the motorcycle frames, a design that harks back to some of the earliest motorcycles ever made. It has a single large tube for a spine and smaller tubes that cradle the engine. This is commonly used on off-road bikes. A variation is the split single cradle which is a single cradle that splits into two cradles at the back for the exhaust.....
Double Cradle: An evolution of the single cradle, it uses two cradles on either side to hold the engine. These were commonly used on simple road bikes and some custom bikes, but have mostly been supplanted by perimeter frames.
Backbone: These are specialty frames that are used rarely. It has a solid metal backbone and the engine hangs suspended from this. It's a simple and inexpensive frame with a distinctive look, but other designs are better in terms of strength and rigidity.
Perimeter: These frames originated on racing motorcycles. The steering head and swingarm are joined at a very short distance, reducing flexure and torsion substantially. They were originally made from steel but most are made from aluminum nowadays to save weight. Once the advantages of this frame were seen, they were adopted by most motorcycle manufacturers.
Monocoque: Another specialty frame that is even rarer than the backbone. They are very heavy and rigid, combining seat mounting, tank, and tail into a single sturdy piece of metal. They are used almost exclusively on specialized competition bikes and are not a good choice for street bikes.
Trellis: European manufacturers came up with this design although it is catching on in the US as well. It uses many of the same construction principles as the perimeter frame and matches it in rigidity and weight. Its distinctive look is formed by a "trellis" of short tubes that make up the body of the frame. It requires more effort to manufacture than the perimeter but the result is extremely strong.
One of the earliest decisions to make is which of these motorcycle frames is right for your bike. Many of your other decisions will depend on the type of frame you choose so consider the options and choose wisely.

6 Money Saving Tips for Truck Drivers
Posted by Unknown at 10:06 PM Labels: CBT Tip, Trucks Apr 24, 2008
Since driving a truck can involve several expenses, some ways to cutting down these expenses may be helpful. By doing so would eventually increase your revenue as a truck driver. Following are pointers that can be useful for truck drivers to save money which includes you as well.
1) Getting a good deal. Trying to get a good deal is important whether you opt for a new truck or a used one. The trucking industry would most likely have a large quantity of used trucks that are still in good condition and offered at a reasonable price. New trucks can be more costly however they come with better warranties. Besides, since these trucks are new, you don't need to worry on wear and tear issues......
2) Obtaining a good interest. An acceptable interest rate can reduce your overall cost of payments. Moreover, if you can try to pay further for your truck toward the initial amount, this would work to your advantage. By doing so helps in paying it off quicker thus reducing the interest rate amount that you need to satisfy over the loan period.
3) Allocating both money and time. To allocate both your money and time for a customary maintenance is a good means to conserve money. Apparently, a regular oil change and devoting time to perform an overall check of your truck (e.g., hoses, lines) not only saves you from the need to purchase additional parts but will also ensure you a better run of your truck. Also, you can save some fuel costs by maintaining sufficient amount of air in your truck's tires.
4) Truck stop offers. Fuel cards being offered by several chain truck stops can also help you in saving money. You can save some few cents per gallon for every use of the fuel card. These cards can also offer you some point system wherein you can acquire some great deals, such as meals or other stuff accessible inside the truck stop.
5) Making the most of the free stuff offered. While some truck stops may charge you up till US$7 for your truck's shower service, there are those that offer such service for free but under certain conditions. For instance, you can avail of such service for free service, if you were able to obtain a certain quantity of gallons of fuel. Moreover, getting fuel every morning may even be further cost effective than filling it up at one site.
6) Food expenses. It is better to invest in getting a small refrigerator for your cab rather than getting them from some convenient stores. You can definitely store in there your preferred food, such as fruits, lunch meat, drinks, and snacks. This allows you to eating healthier food since there's no need for you to stop over some fast food or restaurants mostly available at the truck stops.
So constantly keep in mind these tips each time you drive your truck on the road!

6 Money Saving Tips for Truck Drivers
Even truck drivers are professionals who use standard terminology for several various events that may occur. You often see them communicate with each other through CB radio frequency to offer help and share information. We are used to hearing from them the phrase 10/4, which is commonly used by truck drivers. This term simply means that one has acknowledged what was relayed and was signing off.
Generally, truck drivers have their way of warning each other on safety issues and road hazards. When they use the term four wheelers, they basically are informing others about a regular sized automobile on the road, or a vehicle on the road side ahead. Also, they use different terms in notifying cops-"a smokey" means a cop on the ground in a car, "Evil Kinevil" means a cop on motorcycle, and a "bear in the air" means speed being watched by aircraft.....
Furthermore, the large rubber pieces seen from semi truck tires on the main road are termed as "alligators." "Road pizza" is what truck drivers use to refer to road kill (a common spot on several roads). "Tractor trailers" are termed for a box, whereas "flat bed trailers" for skateboards.
In some cases, you would hear truckers say bobtailing when referring to a forwarding truck without any trailer affixed to it. Although it may save them some fuel mileage, it doesn't spare them from the bumpy road since the trailer helps for the truck to run smoothly.
At other times, you hear them say lot lizard when referring to girls who wander around the parking lot attempting to get paid for some sensual favors. They are called so since they nearly behave like lizards, scramble whenever they see light from cops or security. These lot lizards can be clever in making themselves unnoticeable by security. They are even capable to use code words for different kinds of sensual favors over the CB that are indiscernible among cops.
Long term or veteran truck drivers have their way of accurately identifying drivers coming from another place, region, or country for that matter, simply by the terms they use. Trucker talk evidently is universal knowledge among people in this profession. In addition, for truck talk usually used when referring to safety matters, this seems to have been made more uniform all throughout. For most terms implied to other facets, these seem to turn up with a large amount of differences related to them.
Although most of us don't see the need to learn this truck talk, we however still find it exciting to comprehend what possibly they are conversing about when you hear them while at a truck stop or CB in your car. I myself have learned some different types of trucker talk by just listening to my better-half while talking to his fellow truck drivers. Although I may find or perceive some of the terms they use to be ridiculous, I still believe that the terminology definitely function its basic purpose.

In-Depth Automotive Review - 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche - Test Drive & Pricing
Posted by Unknown at 9:51 PM Labels: TrucksShaun Davidson-Automotive and Finance Consultant-2008
Chevrolet's Avalanche is an interesting yet phenomenal approach of combining both sport utility and pick up truck versatility. Since it's release in 2002, the Avalanche has long been a great seller and a consumer's pick in satisfaction. Most dealers sell out of the current model year before the end of the year is up, which bodes well for future sales. For some of us that's unfamiliar with what the Chevrolet has to offer, I will take one out and do some constructive reviewing of what the 2008 Avalanche has to offer in the marketplace. That way, the buyers can decide if it's a suitable vehicle to add to the shopping list.
At the onset, there is no comparison to the Avalanche. Some buyer's would argue that there is no substitute to either a suv or a truck. This might be the case, but the Avalanche makes a strong counterpoint in all the amenities it has to offer. First of all, the truck can comfortably sit up to six people on cushiony seating surfaces that feel high end and therapeutic on the back and legs, even on the long trips. A fairly basic seating configuration for the family of five and would only not cater to those with more than that. On the other hand, when anyone needs the use of a pickup, the bed is more than adequate at just at 6' long, which is standard sizing for a fullsize truck. But fold down GM's exclusive midgate and the total bed length is right there at 8'8" long, astronomical in length as it does exceed even the HD long beds which are only 8'!! However, you would lose the rear seat in lieu of the extra bed length, a small price to pay if the husband and wife needs to make the trip to the lumber yard. Plywood, sheetrock, or lots of gardening stuff, the Avalanche will swallow them whole! Bed materials are high quality and easy to clean with integrated tie downs, drain holes, 3 piece covers, and storage cubbies on the side that can be used as makeshift coolers/tool boxes. Conclusively, it is easy to see the complete versatility of such a ride......
Riding in the 2008 Avalanche doesn't disappoint as well. Made better with a new design and better engineered parts, the newer Avalanche rides better and feels like better quality. To be completely honest, the interior design and fit and finish is among the best in the fullsize market, and it's nothing to be ignored! Driving the truck is gratifying, very smooth over bumps (revised coil over shocks) and the turning radius is super tight (uses a revised rack and pinion system). As in Honda Civic tight! Power is adequate coming from my LT1 5.3L with cylinder deactivation, but feels its weight when you start to go up hills. The 4-speed automatic is generic for this type of vehicle, but with other trucks offering five and six speeds, it would only be more beneficial if Chevrolet integrates that into future models. The Cadillac Escalade EXT already has this, and it makes a huge difference.
Problems were few and far between. Some would say that squeeks and leaks can be an issue, especially with the different construction of the body and cage construction. But the last couple years of Avalanches have been further improved to help along the long lasting durability of the truck. Prices are stout, my test mule was right at $35k for a 2WD LT1 trim. They can get very expensive right away depending on how fancy you get, and this is easy to do as there are a lot of hypnotic features buyer's would love to have. Additionally, there are plenty of one year old trade ins available, and at about half price compared to new, this would be an advantageous route to go if you're looking to save. Gas mileage in this heavy truck is terrible, if not unbearable. Even with the cylinder deactivation technology, I only managed 14 mpg with sensible driving. Not a truck's biggest achievement by no means.
As a result, the 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche is the perfect compromise for the buyer looking for that specific reason. Still yet a popular and award winning truck/suv hybrid that will sell thousands more in many years. A great idea in a diverse market!

Choosing The Right Tire For Your Stock Jeep Wrangler
Posted by Unknown at 9:45 PM Labels: CBT Tip, Trucks
When it comes to Jeeps one of the most common questions asked is, "What size tires can I fit on my Jeep?" If you have asked that question or if you intend on putting larger tires on your Jeep you should give this article a read. It will help you make your decision on what tire to buy for your stock Jeep.
There are three models of Jeep Wranglers, the YJ, TJ and JK. The YJ which were made between 1987 and 1995 are best identified by the square headlights and leaf spring suspension. If you have a YJ your best bet without a lift is a 30 x 9.5 inch tire. Next there is the TJ which was made from 1997 to 2006. TJs are identified by the return to round headlights and is the first model to use a coil spring suspension. They have a little more clearance so you can therefore go with a 31 x 10.5 inch tire with no problems. You might have to adjust the steering stops if you keep the stock wheels biut that is an easy procedure. (Do a search for "jeep steering stop adjustment"). Finally you have the newest JK version which were built between 2007 and the present. JKs have an even larger wheel opening as well as an increased wheel base and slightly wider stance. JK's can easily run a 32" tire and even a 33" tire with the right wheels.....
So there it is. Those are the basic tire sizes you can fit on stock Wranglers. Of course you should use this as a general guideline only. Consult a tire professional before investing the money in wheels and tires if you are unsure about what tire will fit.

Choosing The Right Tire For Your Stock Jeep Wrangler
If you want want to save money next time you purchase a car, SUV or other motor vehicle, one of the best ways to do it may be to purchase your next vehicle at a government car auction. You may not know it, but federal, state and local government, as well as law enforcement agencies, regularly auction off surplus, seized, confiscated and retired vehicles, and these vehicles are often sold at prices far below the vehicles' book value. Find government, police, sheriff and seized automobile auctions online at http://www.automobilesauctions.com/
The vehicles in these auctions can come from a variety of different sources:
1. One of the most common, perhaps the most common, source of these vehicles, is vehicles that are simply being retired from government use. While it's true that many of these vehicles may have high mileage, it's also true that the vehicles have usually been well maintained, and in many cases even come with complete service history records......
2. In some situations, vehicles may be obtained by the government as a result of confiscation from criminals. These vehicles often include high-end model vehicles such as Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Honda or Mercedes, or even sports cars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini or Porsche. Imagine getting one of these automobiles at a bargain price!
As well as government auctions, another place to look for cheap vehicles are auctions organized by banks and lending institutions. What happens is that the original owner of vehicle is unable to make their repayments, the bank repossesses the vehicle, and then it is auctioned. Of course, the quality of these vehicles may vary, but you might be surprised at the savings that you can find!

The Nissan Cube, Nissan's economy MPV, has been a staple in Japan for many years and is finally making it to the United States. Sometimes unkindly referred to as a box on wheels due to its simple styling, the Cube has an inventory of features that may just make it one of the most popular cars of the next few years. More information available at http://www.supernissans.net/forums
With comfortable seating for five and plenty of leg and headroom, the Cube doesn't sacrifice comfort for space. With more cargo space than a Mercedes-Benz S-class and a foot shorter than the Mazda MX-5, it's compact but surprisingly roomy. Its size makes it very easy to park and maneuver in tight spaces. The Cube's nicely upholstered seats have comfortably wide armrests and it also has a sunroof, rear wiper and defrost and keyless ignition. The rear door opens sideways and the rear seatbacks flip down for increased cargo space should you need it.....
The Cube will undoubtedly be popular, too, for its exceptional gas mileage especially as the price of gasoline continues to surge. Its lighter weight of 2500 pounds allows for about 35 miles per gallon. The 1.5-liter engine and subtle 88 horsepower engine means it's less powerful than other cars but for efficient, comfortable transportation it just cannot be beat. One of the many unique features of this car is called e-4WD; to engage the rear wheels, simply push a button and you're in all-wheel drive!
With a base price of $13,821 the Cube is sure to be a big hit.

In-Depth Automotive Review - 2008 Honda Accord Coupe, Follow Up
Posted by Unknown at 6:24 AM Labels: Cars Apr 14, 2008Shaun Davidson-Automotive and Finance Consultant-2008
Honda's new Accord comes to market with newer styling that takes things to another level. Honda's previous generation of coupe was a great selling car, sporty yet knew when to keep it conservative. I previously tootled around in the sedan version and was further impressed with its creative construction, a crucial take no prisoners mission. To further add to an impressive sedan, the new Accord coupe would have to take a couple extra measures to win me over. And I tell you, it doesn't disappoint. I give you the lowdown on this under the radar ride......
I was fortunate to review an EX model with all the cake and cookies, it was the one trim I was gunning for. If I were to describe the exterior, it would be one of sleek, over the top, and trend setting, of course all in a good way. I just could not help but put the new Infiniti G37 and BMW 3 series coupe in the discussion. For up to $10k less, one could have a stunningly beautiful coupe in the Accord, and perform fantastically with some of the best. But don't get me wrong, the Infiniti and BMW are built and designed at the top of their class. Moreover, I would not feel bad about taking the Accord coupe over the higher priced guys. The body and windshield are more raked, the front end is more stealthier than it's sedan sibling. All in all, it was more sports car than the regular Joe Schmoe passenger car, which the last generation clearly was.
Boy is this car quick, the V6 powertrain is phenomenal and quick to respond to all of my pedal intervention. One important thing is that the car did not feel as heavy as the sedan, and this made drivability and stability out on the roadways more taught and interactive. I wasn't worried about having to accelerate further on the turns, the car handles like a dream. Interior quality is above par yet again, and has no significant issues. Everything was easy to reach and the seating is comfortable if not more supportive, it all fits into the sports coupe niche. The only negative would have to be getting into the back seat, while seating comfort is not the main attraction for any coupe, it did fit a little bit tighter than I liked it to.
Consequently, I knew the new Accord coupe would be on my best of expectations, but I came out of the testing with more of a fondness. It was truly a great alternative to some of the comparably priced cars in the market today, and will win over many buyers with it's head turning facade and Honda's tru-blue engineering and quality. I truly recommended this 2008 Honda Accord coupe to many aspiring sedan aficionados. A break from the common sedan.

Top 10 Reasons Motor Homes are Better than Planes
Posted by Unknown at 7:23 AM Labels: RV Apr 9, 2008
1. Stewardesses are evil. At some point in the history of air travel, "stewardess" went from being this sexy, glamorous job to crabby drink server. Which makes sense, because it's only a plane. But since 9/11 each one thinks they're the last line of defense to the cockpit. Any complaint, no matter how rational, means you could spend the rest of the flight on the ground in flex-cuffs.
2. Planes are cramped. I don't care how much faster they get you there, it is not fun having to sit on a glorified bus for an hour to five hours, surrounded by people you would happily ignore any other time, even if they were on fire.
3. Motor homes can take you more places. The idea that travel is just about going to another city for a few days is limited. What about pro or college football tailgating? You think a Packers tailgate party would be less fun or more with an RV that has a kitchen, tables, TV and bathroom? I'm thinking it would be more - one trip to a Port-a-san in Green Bay and you'll think so too. (A people raised on cheese AND beer AND bratwurst? Are you kidding me?)......
4. Motor homes have beds. That you can stretch out is one thing. That you or your passengers can move about the cabin as much as they want is another thing. But when everyone can pile on the couch or bed and not have to worry about any strangers - or smell them - motor homes win. You can use motor homes as portable temporary housing if you need to. Can the airlines claim that? Why don you ask one of the Jet Blue passengers that had to sleep in an airport terminal last year.
5. Recreational vehicle rental opens up traveling. If you need to get to a meeting in another state by tomorrow, yeah, flying is your best option. But if you're heading out to see something new, the road offers as much as your destination. It's part of the thrill of the open road, the places you hardly ever hear about but dot the landscape. Cafes, historical monuments, natural wonders. There are even special destinations like Disneyland RV parks or Which leads directly into reason #5...
6. You can't get an airline to land in the middle of Yellowstone Park. A motor home not only replaces a plane, it replaces your hotel room and your rental car. It's everything you need packed into a single vehicle.
7. Motor homes don't have security checkpoints. When you travel by motor home, you are not only more comfortable, not only allowed to bring as much carry on luggage as you feel like - but you will never have a minimum wage employee root around in your bags to see if you are carrying more than 4 oz. of hair gel.
Because if you want to bring down that Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, all you need is a full bottle of Listerine and the will to do so. Are these people for real?
8. Motor homes do not fall flaming from the sky. That one's relatively self explanatory though.
9. Planes can leave without you. With air travel, you are entirely at the mercy of the flight schedule. If you really like being insulted, try this on for size: If you are late, the plane will leave without you, but the airline is free to be as late as they please - and they usually are. As a result you can be late for your all-important connecting flight in Pittsburgh... which will leave without you.
10. Planes smell bad. Face it, they do. Have you ever seen what the cleaning crew on a plane does? They fold a blanket or two and swab off any vomit they might find. But since air travel is all about turn around, they don't have time to do much of anything else. The design on the seat cushions sure looks like they haven't updated since the mid 80s - so how much butt do you think they've had rubbed on them?

Photo: http://www.destination360.comAuthor: A motor home for sale comes whistle clean, and stays as clean as you want it to be. (I mean, hey, there's a responsibility to clean up after yourself, but that's the same as at home, right?) If you get a rental, there are days with which to go over the RV with a fine-toothed comb. RV rental companies want your business, so you better believe that means they want their product to be sparklingly fresh.

Trick My Truck - Chevrolet Silverado Performance Add Ons to Increase Horsepower and Fuel Economy
Posted by Unknown at 7:23 AM Labels: Favourite Type, TrucksShaun Davidson-Automotive and Finance Consultant-2008
Despite increasing gas prices, trucks and SUV's are still among the best selling and most profitable of automobiles available. And coming in at a close second, the aftermarket community is just as profitable as most owners look for the right mix of personalization and performance to further set themselves apart from the crowd. That's what makes customizing a new or pre-owned truck an unforgettable experience. The great news is, that most aftermarket add-ons are readily available and take little effort to install using simple hand tools and a couple hours of your time. I will go over a brief list of some of the most popular and cheapest performance accessories to make that truck more powerful, more economical, and have an enhanced satisfaction value.
One of the easiest and most affordable add-ons is of course a high flow air filter. Not only will this allow the truck's engine to breath more efficiently, but will give you a part that is reusable. In the long run, this will save the enthusiast in maintenance costs and will give the driver a fuel economy boost of 1-3 mpg on average. In addition, manufacturers like K&N and Airaid have a wide selection of air filters to choose from for any make and model of automobile, these retail for only $35-55 and the benefits will exceed itself in a matter of months. I would also recommend the fuel injection intake kits if money is no object, again these install in less than 45 minutes and have the same function as a basic air filter. These are also available in a cold air variety that feeds air from behind an air dam or bumper, therefore getting more increase of horsepower......
One such other add-on that is most popular is a custom exhaust. To compliment a more free flowing intake system, a quality exhaust is a must and will help dispel of all the burnt gases from the engine efficiently. An aftermarket system will also enhance performance figures and give it's driver a slight edge in fuel economy as well. There are some exhaust systems from Borla and Magnaflow that have a bolt on kit available which will eliminate welding work and having to bring your ride to a muffler shop. But for a more economical system, Flowmaster has a wide variety of kits that cost only several hundred dollars and is the most popular. In your exhaust search, try to focus on stainless steel kits to help hinder rust for many years to come. And most kits come complete with all the hardware-muffler(s), tubing, hangers, clamps, bolts, instructions, you get the picture. But best of all, a custom exhaust will give the truck a nice throaty sound that only a muscle car can do.
And finally, another basic add-on is a performance chip. Made available by companies like Hypertech and Superchips, a performance chip will re-educate the computer system in your truck to adjust shift points to better your fuel economy. These chips take very little time to install, less than 15 minutes in most cases, and cost around a $100 on average in most autos. A more technological accessory is a power programmer, this tool does everything a chip does, but there is more driver intervention of specs of your engine vitals. You can literally customize your truck's computer more completely than just a chip. But beware, these programmers cost more than 3 times the performance chip, and it's worth every penny.
And so there is my short list of performance goodies anyone can install in an afternoon's time. Additionally, these parts will not affect your manufacturers warranty. There are other inexpensive performance add-ons like hedders, mass air flow sensors, and transmission shift kits to consider, but require a little more work. The overall end product however, will be one of complete amazement and satisfaction as you finally turn the key and feel the results!

Trick My Truck - Chevrolet Silverado Performance Add Ons to Increase Horsepower and Fuel Economy
Husqvarna Motorcycles are a world renown company that has been around since the beginning of the 1900's. In the mid-1900's, Husqvarna motorcycles were untouchable and dominate in every division until a change in ownership made it difficult to keep up with the high demand for production. Since then, Husqvarna has been slowly working its way back into the racing scene but with little success until now. The Husqvarna motorcycle company was sold once again in July of 2007. Will this new change in ownership be enough to bring Husqvarna motorcycles back into the #1 position?
The legend of Husqvarna motorcycles started back when Husqvarna rolled out its first production motorcycle in 1903 from their factory located in Huskvarna, Sweden. Husqvarna has always been known for producing world-class motocross and enduro bikes with unbelievable sling-shot power bands. Husqvarna won many world championships back in the 60's and 70's in both motocross and enduro classes. Husqvarna was winning championships in all of the 125, 250, 350, and 500cc divisions with some years winning multiple championships......
Husqvarna absolutely dominated the competition for decades until 1987 when an Italian company named Cagiva purchased the Husqvarna motorcycle division and moved production to Varese, Italy. Cagiva introduced some new 2-stroke models and did away with the old 2-stoke models which already had numerous championship titles but still kept the same 4-stroke models. The new 2-stroke bikes had difficulty competing with the Japanese made bikes and Cagiva couldn't produce enough bikes and parts to supply the high demand. This change in ownership is why Husqvarna motorcycles and parts became so hard to find causing them to be known more as a rare and exotic motorcycle.
It has been 2 decades now that Husqvarna motorcycles have been struggling to get back into the competition field only taking a world championship here and there, but with a new change in ownership may prove to be the end of the struggle. In July of 2007, the BMW Motor Company decided to purchase the Husqvarna motorcycle company for the sole intention of marketing Husqvarna motorcycles to help market BMW's line of motorcycles. You see, BMW makes large-engine motorcycles and they want to market Husqvarna's small-engine motorcycles to help bring the young crowd's attention to BMW's large-engine motorcycles. BMW plans on running Husqvarna just as it is with the same factory and staff.
Now Husqvarna has exactly what it needs with all the financial support of BMW, the world renown car and large motorcycle manufacturer, to help bring Husqvarna back on top of the competition. With 2 world renown companies bringing their ideas together they can start producing larger production factories, more dealerships, new technologies, and millions of dollars in advertisement to let it be known of the new change. This potent mix is going to cause a revolution in motorcycle designs of the future and it is just around the corner!
